At last Sunday’s Webinar with my VO agent Ilko Drozdoski (part of my Voiceover Demo Domination program), Ilko and I talked about the importance of having an awesome demo that accurately represents your abilities & talent. Check out this clip… (4 minutes)

It’s a frustrating phenomenon, but sometimes an artist will have a demo that’s better than he or she is. The agent hears the demo, falls in love — only the artist isn’t able to reproduce the high level of quality heard on the demo.

I caution artists not to make a demo — indeed, not to begin marketing themselves professionally at all — until they’re prepared and able to work at a high professional level.

It’s possible to craft a demo that sounds much better than the person whom it’s intended to represent. Such a demo isn’t a marketing tool, it’s false advertising.
